Advanced Placement -- AP Potential: Untapped / This session will provide attendees with a blueprint of evaluating AP potential at their school and how to facilitate an interactive AP recruitment event. The goal of this session is for advisors, counselors and school staff to be better equipped with identifying potential AP students and have a recruitment tool in hand.
AmeriCorps -- Service and Volunteerism as a Means to a Career / What is AmeriCorps? What are the benefits of service? How can I help a student find AmeriCorps opportunities and/or introduce them to volunteerism? We’ll cover all of this and more in this session!
Career & Technical Education -- Elevating CTE Through Rigorous and Relevant Program Standards and Approved CTE Programs / This session will provide an overview of the CTEBOT, the Advisory Boards, and their collective impact on creating, supporting and sustaining approved program standards. We will also cover how all of this connects to students making more informed choices via EnrollRI.
School Counseling Corps --The Benefits of Comprehensive Counseling & How We Get There / This session will provide an overview of the ASCA training being provided to the School Counseling Corps (SCC), the work of the SCC, and how the ASCA national model can support the development of a Comprehensive Counseling program. We will incorporate tools such as the ILP, RI Framework & RI School Counseling Competencies in this session.
School Counseling Engagement Corps -- Implementing a Student ILP Ambassador Program / This session will include all materials to recruit, train and utilize students in promoting and improving your ILPs with their voices. You will learn how to run a Student ILP Ambassador program and create dynamic new opportunities within the ILP at your school.
Service-Learning -- Service-Learning: Skills For Making Change / In this session, participants will be introduced to service-learning and its potential in Rhode Island K-12 education. Different service learning approaches in Rhode Island schools and resources for getting started will be showcased!
Financial Literacy -- Financial Literacy for Youth: Why Proficiency Matters / This session will discuss the new legislation, standards, and guides released for financial literacy as schools prepare to implement them. We will push attendees to think about why proficiency matters for our kids in this session!
Work-based Learning -- Expanding Work-based Learning Opportunities for All / What is Work-Based Learning (WBL)? What resources are available for developing high quality WBL programs? What does the WBL data collection look like? These topics and more - including a spotlight on WBL exemplars - will be covered in this session!
